Eager Beagles

Beagles are among the smallest of the hounds. They have a well-deserved reputation as fine hunting dogs.  Their appearance charms people of all ages. The beagle's voices, when raised in the chase, sounds almost musical to those who know them and can appreciate their tenacious spirit.  Working in the field with these determined little beagle's is called "beagling," and enthusiasts of the sport are called "beaglers."

But hunting is only one of the many talents displayed by this well-loved breed.  Merry and affectionate, gentle and amiable, beagle also make wonderful pets, companions, or competitors in obedience trials and confirmation shows.  They have proven themselves excellent detectors for government and military anti-drug and airport security programs.  They are also first-rate therapy dogs.

The special qualities of a beagle can be a source of amusement, pleasure, or even solace.  They are small enough to easily fit into almost any household routine.  They are sturdy, healthy, and easy to care for.  They hold few grudges and welcome companionship from other pets. They are enthusiastic playmates for children and adults alike. A beagle's winsome expression is irresistible.  It is difficult to imagine a more appealing dog.
